Villanova University is an independent coeducational institute
of higher learning founded by the Augustinian Order of the Roman
Catholic Church. The University is a community of persons of
diverse professional, academic, and personal interests who in
a spirit of collegiality cooperate to achieve their common goals
and objectives in the transmission, the pursuit, and the discovery
of knowledge. The community serves society by developing and
sustaining an academic environment in which the potentialities
of its members may be realized. Villanova is committed to those
same high goals and standards of academic integrity and excellence
as well as personal and corporate achievements that characterize
all worthy institutions of higher learning.
Villanova offers numerous undergraduate and graduate degree
programs through its 4 colleges (Liberal Arts & Sciences, Commerce
& Finance, Engineering and Nursing). Its worldwide reputation
attracts over 6,000 undergrads and over 2,000 graduate students
from 49 states and 52 countries.
HOUSING
4300 students can be accommodated in college housing, which
includes single-gender and coed residence halls, as well as
on-campus apartments for upper-class students. Resident students
are guaranteed three consecutive years of on-campus housing.
Approximately, 73% of students live on campus, of those more
than 90% remain on campus on weekends. Upper-class (juniors
& seniors), resident students are permitted to keep cars
on campus.
ACTIVITIES
There are over 100 groups on campus ranging from Greek Life,
currently 25% of our student population belongs to a Greek organization.
Campus Ministry has several Habitat for Humanity service trips
a year to places where help is needed to rebuild homes of individuals
who are less fortunate. Villanova hosts the Special Olympics
every fall along with Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week
and Community Outreach Services..
SPORTS
There are 11 intercollegiate sports for men and 13 for woman,
14 intramural sports for men and 14 for women and aerobics.
Facilities include an 12,000 seat football stadium, 6500 seat
gym, a 200 meter indoor track, 2 swimming pools, weight rooms,
a field house and basketball, volleyball and tennis courts.
In spring 2003, the Women’s Basketball Team won the BIG
EAST CHAMPIONSHIP. In fall 2003, the Women’s Soccer Team
won the BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP.
PROGRAMS OF STUDY
College of Liberal Arts & Sciences offers the Bachelor of
Arts degree in Art, History, Humanities, Classical Studies,
Communications, Criminal Justice, Economics, English, French,
Italian, Liberal Arts, Geography, German, History, Honors Program,
Human Services, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology,
Spanish, Theology and Religious Studies.
A Bachelor of Science degree is offered in Astronomy and Astrophysics,
Biology, Chemistry, Comprehensive Science, Computer Science,
Secondary Education, Honors Program, Information Science, Mathematics
and Physics. The chemistry program is accredited by the American
Chemical Society and the computer science program is accredited
by the Computer Science Accreditation Commission of the Computing
Sciences Accreditation Board, a specialized accreditation body.
Graduate Programs: Doctorate of Philosophy in Philosophy,
Masters of Arts with majors in Biology, Classical Studies, Education,
English, History, Liberal Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy,
Political Science, Modern Languages (Spanish), Theatre and Theology.
Master of Science in Applied Statistics, Biology, Chemistry,
Computer Science, Counseling and Human Relations, Criminal Justice
Administration, Human Resource Development, Public Administration
and Psychology.
Villanova School of Business offers
the following undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Science in
Accountancy; Bachelor of Science in Economics; and Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration with majors in: Finance,
Management, Management Information Systems and Marketing as
well as a co-major in International Business. All business programs
are accredited by AACSB International-The Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business.
The College also offers graduate programs including MBA, EMBA,
Post MBA certificate, Master of Accounting and Consulting, JDMBA
and Master of Technology Management (in conjunction with the
College of Engineering).
College
of Engineering offers full-time (day) academic programs
leading to the following degrees: Bachelor of Chemical Engineering,
Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Computer Engineering,
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, and Bachelor of Mechanical
Engineering. The undergraduate engineering programs offered
by Villanova University are fully accredited by the Engineering
Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology (ABET).
The following graduate engineering programs are offered: Chemical,
Civil and Environmental, Electrical and Computer and Mechanical
Engineering. The College of Engineering has initiated a new,
interdisciplinary, graduate program leading to the degree Doctor
of Philosophy.
College of Nursing awards the baccalaureate degree in
nursing (BSN) and provides basic preparation in nursing to those
who are studying for the first professional degree in the field.
Such students include high school graduates with no prior college
experience, registered nurses who were prepared in hospital
or junior college programs and who have not jet attained the
baccalaureate, college graduates with degrees in other disciplines
who have made a later decision to study nursing, and mature
adults who are studying for their first college degree. Baccalaureate
nursing education prepares individuals for professional nursing
practice in a variety of health-care settings and for continuous
personal and educations growth, including entrance into graduate
education in nursing.
Graduate Nursing offers Master in MSN. Law School, JD and
LLM
VISIT INFORMATION
There are regularly scheduled orientations for prospective
students, including campus tours and information sessions
conducted several times daily and on selected Saturdays throughout
the academic year. There are guides for informal visits and
visitors may sit in on classes.

DIRECTIONS TO VILLANOVA
From New York and New England:
Take the New Jersey Turnpike(95) to EXIT 6 (Pennsylvania Turnpike(276)
exit). Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike(276) Westbound to EXIT
20 (Mid-County Interchange) I-476 South/Chester. Follow I-476
South to EXIT 13 (Villanova/St.Davids). At the bottom of ramp
turn right onto Route 30 East, also known as Lancaster Avenue.
Proceed east on Route 30 (Lancaster Avenue) for one-half mile
and at the fourth traffic light you will see Villanova’s
main parking lot on the right. To reach the Main Gate entrance,
turn left at the next light (Ithan Avenue) to second drive
on left, directly across from The Pavilion Sports Complex.
From the West:
Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (76) to EXIT 326 - Valley Forge
(formerly Exit 24). Take I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) to EXIT
331A (I-476 South/Chester) to EXIT 13 (US 30 St. Davids/Villanova)
to Route 30 East, also known as Lancaster Avenue. Take Route
30 East (Lancaster Avenue) for one-half mile and at the fourth
traffic light you will
see Villanova's parking lot on the right.
From the South:
Take I-95 North to EXIT 7 (I-476 (Blue Route) North-Plymouth
Meeting).
Take I-476 (Blue Route) North to EXIT 13 (Villanova/St.Davids)
to Route 30 East (also known as Lancaster Avenue) to Route
30 East, also known as Lancaster Avenue. Proceed east on Route
30 (Lancaster Avenue) for one-half mile and at the fourth
traffic light you will see Villanova's main parking lot on
the right. To reach the Main Gate entrance, turn left at the
next light (Ithan Avenue) to second drive on left, directly
across
from the The Pavilion Sports Complex.
By Train:
Take AMTRAK to the 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. Ask
the attendant to direct you to the Suburban Trains. Take the
R5 Paoli Local train to Villanova. The train stops directly
on our campus. NOTE: You can
save money by buying your local train ticket before boarding.
When you leave the train, take the pedestrian tunnel under
the tracks and walk straight through the walkway under Mendel
Science Center. When you come out from the arch, go straight
toward the back of St. Thomas of Villanova Church (the stone
building with two spires). The second building to your left
is Austin Hall, which houses the Office of
University Admission.
It is also possible to take the Market/Frankford Subway (Blue Line) to its terminus at 69th Street Station, and from there catch the Route 100 rail line that runs directly to our campus. Get off at the Stadium Station.
By Bus:
When your bus arrives in Philadelphia, ask the attendant to
direct you to the train station at Market East. Take the R5
Paoli Local train to Villanova, and follow the above directions.
By Plane
Arrange to fly into Philadelphia International Airport, which
is located 25 minutes from the Villanova campus. From the
airport you have three options:
Train: Ask the attendant at the airport baggage counter
to direct you to the train station. Purchase a combination
ticket to the Villanova Station. All trains go to the 30th
Street Station in Philadelphia. At 30th Street, change trains
and board the R5 Paoli Local train which will take you directly
to the Villanova campus.
Rental Car (or other private
transportation): When leaving the airport,
follow the signs for I-95 South. Take I-95 South to EXIT 7
(I-476 (Blue
Route) North-Plymouth Meeting). Take I-476 North to EXIT 13
(Villanova/St.Davids). Proceed east on Route 30 (Lancaster
Avenue) for
one-half mile and at the fourth traffic light you will see
Villanova's main
parking lot on the right. To reach the Main Gate entrance,
turn left at the
next light (Ithan Avenue) to second drive on left, directly
across from the The Pavilion Sports Complex.
Main Line Airport Service: This
limousine service runs direct from
Philadelphia International Airport to Villanova University.
